
Lia Escober
Fall Intern
Lia Escober is a recent graduate of San Diego State University with a degree in Biology with an emphasis in Marine Biology. Throughout her undergraduate studies, she conducted research across disciplines, from genetics to marine ecology, and presented her work at the Western Society of Naturalists Conference. After interning at the Coastal Marine Institute and Laboratory in San Diego, she started focusing on the applications of research. Most recently, she worked with the California Ocean Science Trust as a California State University COAST (Council on Ocean Affairs, Science, and Technology) intern. In this role, she worked on science communication and policy projects that focused on seaweed aquaculture and marine carbon dioxide removal.
Looking ahead, Lia plans to pursue a master’s degree in environmental policy and management. She is committed to using her science communication skills to translate complex research into accessible, actionable insights that support sustainable solutions for the marine environment.
